New Hanover County

Greenville, NC and Surrounding Areas
Greenville sits on the coastal plain, where sandy soil and a high water table shape most plumbing failures. Older housing near uptown and around East Carolina University runs to galvanized steel supply lines and cast iron drains that have thinned from decades of service. Post-war and 1970s to 1980s houses are typically crawlspace built, so supply lines run through unconditioned space and split during the hard freezes that hit every few winters.
